Embracing Nature in Spiritual Living
Is The House of Natural Living a church? The House of Natural Living is a church in the truest, most ancient sense of the word. Rooted in the Greek kyriakon, meaning “the Lord’s house,” it is a space set apart for sacred living—a sanctuary where reverence for life, nature, and the divine order is embodied in daily rhythm. But it is also an ecclesia—a community of the “called out ones”, gathered not by doctrine but by devotion to wholeness, simplicity, and living in harmony with nature and each other. In this way, it is both a dwelling for the sacred and a gathering of those who walk a shared path of mindful, natural living.
Why is our day of gathering not on Sunday? At The House of Natural Living, we believe in protecting the sacred rhythm of family life. In today’s busy world, carving out meaningful time together can be a challenge. That’s why we choose to gather during the week—so Sundays can remain a true day of rest, connection, and presence with family. We ask our community to honor Sundays as family days, and instead come together on a chosen weekday evening to share in reflection, learning, and community care.
What does a weekly gathering look like at The House of Natural Living? Our weekly gatherings are a time for thoughtful conversation, shared learning, and grounding as a community. Rather than a traditional service led by one voice, we come together around a weekly topic—something relevant to natural living, personal growth, seasonal rhythms, or community well-being. Topics will be posted in advance on our website and may extend across multiple weeks to allow space for deeper reflection and integration. At times, we may choose to read a book collectively and return to the conversation over time. We also leave room for hands-on learning, practical skills, or simple creative practices that embody the week’s theme. These gatherings are designed to be participatory and inclusive—a circle of equals, not a stage and audience. We believe that wisdom is held within the community, and that open-hearted dialogue can nourish us all. Each month, we also hold a community potluck, because a shared meal is at the heart of belonging. Of course, we ask all meals be made with organic ingredients, void of seed oils, artificial flavors, colors or preservatives and full of tradition and love. We close each gathering with a moment of stillness—through grounding practices like breath work, meditation, or prayer—so we leave feeling connected to ourselves, one another, and the Earth. As the seasons shift, so do we. During the summer months, The House of Natural Living will move from weekly to monthly gatherings to honor the slower pace of the season and create more space for family time, travel, and rest. These monthly gatherings will continue to nourish our community with meaningful connection, shared learning, and peaceful reflection—just with a gentler rhythm that aligns with the long, sunlit days of summer. We look forward to seeing you, sharing a meal, and staying rooted together, even in this quieter season.
What denomination are we? The House of Natural Living is a non-denominational church—welcoming all who seek a life of intention, reverence, and harmony with nature. We do not follow any single religious tradition, but instead honor the universal truths found across many paths. Ours is a space where all are invited to connect with the sacred in a way that resonates with their own heart and heritage. Here, belonging is not about belief—it’s about living with care, consciousness, and community.
Do you offer youth gatherings? Youth Gatherings: Living Naturally, Together Each week, we host youth gatherings that invite children and teens to explore the many ways of living a natural, intentional life. From herbal medicine and homesteading skills to mindfulness, movement, and seasonal rhythms, our hands-on classes are designed to be both practical and meaningful. To honor family time and avoid weekend busyness, we hold these gatherings after school hours during the week. Each session offers real-world tools and gentle guidance so that our young people can begin weaving these values into their daily lives with confidence and joy. We ask for a small donation to cover the cost of the materials used in the classes.
Can I make a tax deductible donation to The House of Natural Living? Yes!
